Career Summary
For the past 25 years and more, I have owned and operated JOY Designs, a design firm located out of Southern California. Recently, I returned to my roots in Chicago and to enjoy more time with my family. Upon making this move, I've brought my knowledge, experience and talent to the greater Chicago area. I plan to take this as an opportunity to build my network and portfolio as I have done on the West Coast and Mountain areas.
With my years of experience and exposure to a large spectrum of diverse projects, I have become an expert in two distinct areas; residential design and construction project management. The majority of my work has been focused on high-end residences throughout the country.
My most recent ventures have involved major remodeling and redesigning floorplans of large homes. During these recent projects, I managed each job from conception to completion. I was held responsible for each project's success, while being held accountable for managing each contractor and set budget throughout the project.
Some of my recent projects include a complete interior redesign and remodel of a $12 million lake front home on Lake Tahoe, one of the more valued properties of the area. Just 2 miles away, another home with a significant remodeling budget, turned this 5,000 square foot home "on the Hill with a View" into a $2.5 million dream home. I've also had a number of projects in Vail and Aspen Colorado. The most recent project was a remodel of a $9 million townhouse in the core of Aspen with a major renovation adding to it's greatest value. I also had the privilege of heading the Design Team to create the world renown "Club Chelsea" night club in Vail, Colorado as well as working with the "Club Chelsea" in Aspen.
Other projects of mine include the complete "design-and-build" from the ground up of homes in Laguna Beach, California. In all cases, the success of these projects came from diligent hard work, and my experience as a designer/project manager. I love what I do in my business, and the results are there to show for it.
